It’s a surgical retractor with a pitchfork or claw-shaped end that’s used to keep soft tissues in place during an operation. The enlarged outside prongs are intended to provide a more equal retraction and reduce drooping at the margins. The Freeman Rake retractor is available in four sizes and comes with either sharp or blunt prongs.
